Ms Emily Whitby

Position:
Drama Teacher and Year 9 Mentor
Qualifications:
BA Hons in Drama and Theatre - Royal Holloway University of London PGCE in Drama teaching - Sussex University
For my fifth birthday, my grandmother took me to see 'The Lion King’ on the London West End. From there, my enthusiasm and passion for theatre and creative arts was ignited. I thoroughly enjoy watching, directing and participating in plays, musicals and performances. In addition to this, I also feel inspired by my studies, which enabled me to gain a deeper understanding of theatrical content, the theory behind performance concepts and my knowledge of production from page to stage. I specialise in physical theatre, contemporary theatre and scenography, which allows me to teach a wide-range of skills. I believe that drama and performance skills are transferable to life, and hope that my students will be able to both develop a love of theatre alongside life skills such as confidence and communication. I have always lived by the sea, and have enjoyed living in Brighton for the past 10 years. Here I have been able to experience arts, music and theatre culture through the Brighton Fringe. In addition to this, I love sports and enjoy dancing, running and going to the gym in my spare time. I am looking forward to taking on board the annual school show this year and nurturing the talent of our students, as well as exploring my new home in Marbella by the sea.
