Friday 3rd June saw the annual BSM summer fair go off with a bang with a a huge assortment of stalls raising money for the charity Ayuda Syria. This year we mixed things up a little and enlisted the help of our parent body to create class stalls with an offering of food, games and items to sell based around a theme of their choice. Themes ranged from Hawaii (delicious mocktails) to my personal favourite Mine Craft which had a fabulous selection of Mine Craft inspired handmade biscuits and lollies.
There were plenty of games to keep both young and old occupied including old favourites such as the Sweetie Lucky Dip to new additions like Pie the Teacher - I must say the Year 1 staff were very brave being on the receiving end of cream pies thrown at them in 30 degree heat!
Spain, Sweden and Brazil made an appearance in the form of our ever popular International stalls serving typical dishes and drinks from their respective countries including chilled gazpacho, empanadas and Swedish rye breads with toppings. The parents bar ( as always ) was a welcome addition for parents wanting a chilled refreshment in the heat of the day and helped liven up the proceedings.
We were also treated to a visit from Triple A who brought 2 adorable puppies for the children to pet and were thrilled by the generous donations that they received.
Well done to our music department and talented musicians for keeping the entertainment going and a special mention to the Year 3 rock band for their lively performance, definitely some future rock stars in the making! We were also treated to some dancing from our after school dance club and some live music from Kids Parties in Spain with their renditions of popular classics and a foam party. It was great to see several generations of families grooving on down to some classic tunes.
A massive thank you to everyone that came and especially to the EFC and parents that helped contribute to their class stalls. The Year 3 class raised the most money with €263.10 and overall we made a staggering €2226.73 for charity. Well done everyone, I am sure the funds will be very helpful for this worthy cause.
