Science

A high-quality science education provides the foundations for understanding the world through the specific disciplines of Biology, Chemistry and Physics. Science stimulates and excites pupil’s curiosity about phenomena and events in the world around them. It also satisfies this curiosity with knowledge. As science links direct practical experience with ideas, it can engage learners at many levels.

BISM’s Secondary School Science department follows the vision of the British Schools Foundation to provide a truly world class education for its pupils with regards to Biology, Chemistry and Physics.

We offer well-equipped laboratories enabling the department to focus as much as possible on learning through investigation and experimentation. From Year 7 onwards, pupils are encouraged to develop their knowledge, skills and most importantly to enjoy their science to develop a lifelong interest in science.

The department follows the English National Curriculum at IGCSE and where appropriate enhances the curriculum to further challenge pupils, encouraging scientific curiosity, skills and understanding. This enhancement will be provided through quality lesson planning and choosing interesting and fun assignments and practical investigations for pupils to complete.

All pupils study Science in Year 10 and 11 in order to gain an IGCSE qualification in this crucial subject. Physics, Chemistry and Biology are all offered as an A level option in Year 12 and 13.
